THOMAS DUDLEY'S RICH HISTORY AND
EXPANSION OF OUR FOUNDRIES IN THE WEST MIDLANDS

Backed by the resources of the successful and financially robust Thomas Dudley Group, our foundries are supported by unrivalled expertise in the design, development and manufacture of iron castings.

Our team of engineering specialists is also vastly experienced across a broad range of industry sectors and has the capability to manufacture the most complex cast iron components.

Unlike many other foundries, we can also call upon automated and airset manufacturing facilities to provide a uniquely flexible, UK based production platform. This allows us to offer a reliable and extremely cost-effective source of supply, for any given requirement.

OUR HISTORY TIMELINE AS A
FOUNDRY IN THE WEST MIDLANDS

1920 - 1930

In 1920 Thomas Dudley Ltd was established. Using previous skills acquired from managing foundries across the UK, the new foundry grows rapidly, making castings for a wide range of industries.
1930 - 1950

The business relocates from Dudley Port to our current site.

The foundry paves the way for the plastics division of the company via its production of cast iron WC cisterns and the need for frost-resistant heavy-duty rubber cisterns.
1960 - 1980

As the foundry expands, Thomas Dudley invests heavily in mechanised plant and installs seven automated moulding lines.

A new building is erected to house the expanding plastics division along with a new office block.
1990 - 2010

£2.5 million is spent in investment on a new Disamatic 2110 line opened by local comedian Lenny Henry.
2012

A further £4.5 million is invested in a Disamatic 131Z moulding line, again opened by Lenny Henry.

State-of-the-art Advanced Centre for Engineering opened.
2013

We’re voted Business of the Year by Black Country Chamber of Commerce.
Further investments include new canteen, new visitor centre, new quality suite and new manufacturing capabilities.
2014

We receive Company Achievement Award from The Cast Metals Federation.

Black Country Castings Foundry acquired, becoming Thomas Dudley (Duport) Ltd and providing the capability to make castings to 120Kg.
2015 - 2018

The Elite Centre for Manufacturing is launched to train the future generation of engineers.

The Best Use of Technology Award is received from both Black Country Chamber of Commerce and Express & Star.
2019

Investment exceeding £6 million sees Disa 3-Z-425 moulding line installed alongside a new Sand Plant, Paint Dipping & Shot Blast Plant, increasing capacity by more than 40% with improved lead times & surface finishes
