Thomas Dudley provides the complete solution for iron castings up to 120Kg in weight. Backed by the successful Thomas Dudley Group, we are able to call upon unrivalled expertise in the design, development and manufacture of castings.
Our UK foundries and the team of engineering specialists are vastly experienced across a broad range of industry sectors and have the capability to produce the most complex cast iron components.
Thomas Dudley has established a reputation for providing customers with outstanding design and developmental support.
For each and every project, our engineers will begin by taking time to thoroughly understand the castings that need to be manufactured and any special performance criteria that have to be achieved. If required, they will then develop designs using our in-house facilities
The new TD Foundry Utility Castings Range Product Specification Guide has been designed to provide an easy to use overview and technical specifications for our products.
Thomas Dudley provides a comprehensive portfolio of castings and is able to call upon unrivalled expertise in design, development and manufacturing.
Having been a foundry since 1920, we also have the technical know-how to identify and work with market-leading overseas foundries. We partner with these to source high quality larger castings which are outside of the scope of our production.
A review of the market and in-house testing confirmed that manhole cover and grating designs have changed little in 30 years and that many products fail the EN124 load tests by more than 50%.
With this in mind, we have engineered a range of manhole covers, gratings and other utility castings that are now lighter and tested by BSI to load tests at least 10% higher than those required by EN 124-2.
In addition to optimising weight and load-bearing capacity, we addressed the safety concerns associated with drop-in castings. The hinges carry most of the load whilst being manually lifted, reducing total weight by up to 70%. This facilitates HSE compliant one-person operation.
Selecting utility castings can be surprisingly challenging.
In order to do so, buyers, specifiers, stockists and contractors have to navigate the potential minefield that is presented by the variety of products, specifications and third-party standards.
As with many other construction products, unit price is obviously an important factor. But more important are quality, suitability and total cost of ownership (TCO).
Our Essential Guide cuts through the confusion, giving you everything you need to make informed decisions and select access covers, gully gratings, channel gratings and kerb drainage castings more effectively.
