Steinbichler 3D Laser Scanning Equipment
The Advanced Centre for Engineering within our iron foundry boasts cutting edge Steinbichler 3D digitizing capabilities.
These allow existing components and castings to be accurately scanned in high resolution. The resulting scanned images can then be imported into CAD/CAM to produce model files.
In doing so, the technology helps to support:
- Quality control by allowing actual sand castings and CAD data to be compared.
- Reverse engineering through the provision of data for the production of new tools and castings.
- Mould and toolmaking manufacture and repair.
- Rapid prototyping.
As a result, Thomas Dudley is able to work closely with customers to reduce new component development timescales and costs.
