Thomas Dudley Ltd is investing in a new energy-efficient foundry sand crusher to reduce energy consumption and operating costs. This includes improving the reclamation of used moulding sand so that a greater proportion can be reused on site, reducing the purchase, delivery and disposal of sand.

An initial review of available solutions has identified the following equipment types as suitable benchmarks; however, alternative equipment will be considered where it can demonstrate performance equivalent to or exceeding the capability of the referenced items.

The proposed scope currently comprises:

• A foundry sand crusher to break down lumps of used moulding sand from shakeout to reusable grain size, with performance equivalent to or exceeding the referenced benchmark,and an energy-efficient (IE3 minimum, IE4 preferred) drive with variable speed control.
