Thomas Dudley Ltd is investing in a new energy-efficient foundry scrap crusher to reduce energy consumption and operating costs. This includes the replacement of ageing handling equipment to improve the efficiency of the furnace by reduction of air gaps within the metal leading to a more uniform melting profile and a reduction of rework.
An initial review of available solutions has identified the following equipment types as suitable benchmarks; however, alternative equipment will be considered where it can demonstrate performance equivalent to or exceeding the capability of the referenced items.
The proposed scope currently comprises:
- A foundry scrap crusher capable of reducing metal scarp to a consistent, furnace chargeable size, with performance equivalent to or exceeding the referenced benchmark and an energy-efficient (IE3 minimum, IE4 preferred) drive.
